Scanning ASEBA forms with ADM

Our Assessment Data Manager (ADM) Scanning Module enables you to process ASEBA school-age forms (CBCL/6-18, TRF/6-18, YSR/6-18) via fax, image scanners, and reflective-read scanners. The module automates the scanning process by communicating directly with your scanner software. You can activate and monitor your scanner software through the ADM Scanning Module; scanned data can be automatically loaded into ADM ready to be scored. (With ADM, you have unlimited uses with no extra fees per use.)

To process our machine-readable forms you need:

A computer running Microsoft Windows 98/NT/2000/XP. (Some scanners do not work with Windows NT: check with the manufacturer.)
A scanner or fax modem.
Software from an appropriate vendor to read the scanner or fax image. See Comparison of OMR and Image Scanning to see which software goes with which scanner.
Our ADM Scanning Module.

ADM supports two kinds of scanners: Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) and Image Scanners. OMR scanners require our OMR scan forms and pencil read heads. Image scanners require TELEform software and our TELEform-specific forms. Our ADM Scanning Module can be used with both OMR and TELEform forms.

Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) scanners. Using a #2 pencil (not ink), respondents fill in bubbles on machine-readable CBCL/6-18, TRF, or YSR forms. Completed forms are fed into your reflective-read scanner. Data are transmitted back to ADM installed on your computer. See Comparison of OMR and Image Scanning for supported scanners and software. Optical Mark Recognition scanners require precisely printed forms with timing marks and 'skunk' marks. Our forms are printed on both sides, so they work best with dual read heads.

Fax and image scanners (TELEform). Using dark marks, respondents fill in bubbles on TELEform versions of machine-readable CBCL/6-18, TRF, or YSR forms. Completed forms are fed into your fax or image scanner, which transmits data to your IBM-compatible computer. TELEform data are automatically processed for direct transmission to ADM. See Comparison of OMR and Image Scanning for supported scanners and software. The ADM scanning module contains form definition files to read filled TELEform versions that you purchase from us. You cannot publish ASEBA forms from TELEform.
