Older Adult Behavior Checklist for Ages 60-90+ (OABCL)

See a sample OABCL.

The Older Adult forms—OABCL and OASR—can greatly improve assessment in a variety of contexts, including psychiatric and psychological evaluations; medical care; assessments following significant life changes, such as loss of a loved one or a move to an assisted living environment; and evaluations before and after planned changes and interventions.

The profiles for scoring the OABCL include normed scales for adaptive functioning, empirically based syndromes, DSM-oriented scales, and total problems. The profiles also include a critical items scale consisting of items of particular concern to clinicians.

The following cross-informant syndromes were derived: Anxious/Depressed; Somatic Complaints; Thought Problems; Irritable/Disinhibited; Memory/Cognition Problems; Worries; and Functional Impairment. The DSM-oriented scales are: Depressive Problems; Anxiety Problems; Somatic Problems; DementiaProblems; Psychotic Problems; and Antisocial Personality Problems.

The ADM Windows module for the OABCL and OASR can score profiles from both forms and can compare any combination of eight forms per subject. Hand-scored profiles are also available.
