Starting with the ASEBA’s origins in the 1960s, it traces major milestones in the ASEBA’s conceptual, methodological, and theoretical development. It also elucidates applications of the ASEBA to practical assessment, training, and research. Key topics include:

    • Empirically based approach
    • Quantitative aspects of assessment & taxonomy
    • Developmental psychopathology
    • Linking assessment & taxonomy
    • From classification to quantification
    • Evidence-based assessment (EBA) for evidence-based treatment (EBT)
    • From data to theory & back to data
    • Modeling phenotypic & genotypic interplays
    • From cross-cultural to multicultural research
    • Accelerated longitudinal research

Building on the accomplishments to date, the book outlines directions for continued advances in areas such as the following:

    • Multicultural research & applications
    • Use of multi-informant data
    • Profile patterns
    • Genetics of psychopathology
